W86: Of Mothers

We finally ventured to North Carolina
to celebrate this beautiful new family,
meet our lovely niece Violet,
& possibly visit a brewery...
you know... while we're there...
Stephen, Carrie, and baby Violet

Big smiles for Auntie Brit!
Mesmerized by Uncle David's beard
Yes, I know this is an adorable picture,
but don't get any ideas...
babies are still a ways away for us!

We are thrilled enough with our niece for now.

In keeping with the theme of motherhood,
it was only appropriate that
Stephen, Carrie & Violet
took us to

Mother Earth Brewing Co.
in Kinston, NC

Our tour guide and brew master, Josh Brewer.
Yes, that's his real name...
We had a great time on this tour!
The building is actually a former drive-thru
pharmacy.  Definitely unique.

The distillery room ceiling is made of recycled barrels
complete with a bottle chandelier.
We got to try some of their delicious gin and whiskey
in addition to the great beer!

But perhaps the most impressive thing about this
brewery is that they are devoted to using
sustainable practices -- remaining true to
their name by staying local and
implementing organic and green resources
into every aspect of their operations.

David and me in the barrel aging room.

Oh, and this place has a freaking slide!
If you're ever in Kinston, make sure you check this place out!

David recommends the Sisters of the Moon IPA
while I was partial to the Weeping Willow Belgian Wit myself.
