W63: Bachelorette Weekend Nashville

Beyond excited that my friend, Jaclyn, is getting married in just TWO WEEKS!
Over Labor Day weekend, I had the pleasure of partying it up in Nashville
with these lovely ladies.
Becky, Jaclyn, me & Michayla
(note the water cup--we were WILD, let me tell ya)
What was so amazing about this trip was that it wasn't entirely focused on going out to the bars.  Yes, we did make it downtown two nights in a row despite the fact that we were all old, married women (except for Jaclyn of course), but those memories weren't even the highlights of the weekend.

After a 6 hour drive from Illinois, we found ourselves in a weird state of exhaustion and excitement.  Unsure of how a weekend with a group of women that I had never traveled with (except for Jaclyn) might go, I was a little nervous going into this little adventure.  I am socially awkward and tend to get along better with guys, but the amount of bonding between us all this weekend was astonishing.  We talked pretty much the entire time, staying up until 5a one night and 3:30a the next!
Not too shabby for some old, married ladies...

Our first event of the night was a dance class at Miss Fit Academy where we learned the Coyote Ugly dance to Joan Jett's "I Love Rock n Roll".

Despite my complete lack of coordination and utter embarrassment at having to dance in front of people knowing full well what my "moves" look like, this hour flew by!  We had so much fun!  Our instructor was great!  She taught us the moves, encouraged us to add more sass, and let us do our thing!  Of course us perfectionists wished we had more time to get the steps down and thought that it could maybe have been a two hour class...
but we still had a great time.

Posing with our amazing instructor!
Plus, the class concluded with a pink champagne toast!  How awesome is that?!  It was a great way to kick start our first night out in Nashville.  We highly recommend Miss Fit Academy if you're ever in Nashville!

Before long, we found ourselves downtown and ready for a good time!  We stopped in such lovely establishments as Paradise Park and The Stage.

Paradise Park is a trailer park bar complete with Astro turf and lawn chairs!  Despite what it sounds was a lot of fun!

At The Stage, we danced and jammed on the giant guitar!  What's not to love?!

Both bars had live bands and NO COVER!

After a little hiccup of drama post bars, we finally wound down enough to go to sleep in preparation of the next exciting day of our weekend.

On Sunday, we went to Honeysuckle Hill Farm in Springfield, TN (approx. 30 minutes outside of Nashville) for some ziplining fun!

As we drove up, there was no one to be found which made us a little nervous...

We had tried calling several times since it was supposed to rain, but we never got a hold of the woman we booked our appointment with...

As we wandered aimlessly, suddenly two ATVs pulled up with a couple of very confused men.  They had no idea that we had an appointment but were more than happy to take us on the zipline tour.

Literally learning the ropes...
Becky with one of our tour guides!
Scenic view of Jaclyn coming in over the pond!
Michayla disappearing into the woods!
Treetop photo op!

Crossing the sky bridge!
Jaclyn crossing the legendary Battle Creek!
Flying high!
Michayla flying in like a pro.  Posing for the camera and everything!

Can you believe they taught us how to zipline upside down?!
Our two tour guides were perfect, though we got the impression that they aren't normally the ones guiding people through the treetops.  They described the place as a pumpkin farm, but let me tell you, folks, it is so much more than that!  Sitting on 200 acres of land, they also had a rock climbing wall, corn maze (of Luke Bryan!), activities geared towards kids, and so on and so forth.
We highly recommend  Honeysuckle Hill Farm!

As we made our way back to Nashville from our exhilarating zipline tour, we were still pumped about a second night out on the town but it was clear that the old, married ladyness of it all was starting to take it's toll.  We just can't party like we used to.  The second night was still fun but much more subdued.

We learned the "Click" line dance at Wildhorse Saloon
and found a few friends to pose with...

Then, we wound up at the infamous WannaB's Karaoke Bar where we ended the night singing Miranda Lambert's "Mama's Broken Heart"

A few awesome facts about WannaB's that you should be aware of...  the karaoke DJ and bartender sang an epic version of "Time of My Life" from Dirty Dancing!  He worked the crowd while she still took drink orders!  Color me impressed.

Here is a video of Kristin in action, singing a different song!

Also, just prepare yourself as you make your way down the hallway towards the restroom... it's a whole 'nother world over there.  Literally, the hall connects you to an entirely different bar where people are fist-pumping away to club music!  Quite the departure from our cute little karaoke bar where everyone is belting out country hits.  It can be a little jarring if you're not prepared.

One not so awesome fact... if you don't get your song in early, you will stand around FOREVER waiting for it to come up EVEN IF YOU TIP (which I did)!  We were ready to leave, but the DJ told me that we were six songs away so we hung around a little longer.  By the time we made it to the stage, we essentially just filed onto the stage, sang our song then filed straight out the door to catch a cab back to the hotel.

All in all, we had a great time!  I  loved attending a bachelorette weekend that wasn't solely focused on bars and tacky penis wear.  We created some amazing memories line dancing, ziplining and just talking!

Can't wait to celebrate Jaclyn's pending nuptials in less than TWO WEEKS!!!

Loverly banner provided by the very crafty Michayla!

Coming up... Week 64: Greek Cucumber Salad

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I know what you mean. It's the kind of city that you just can't help but love!

  2. This is just a fantastic post on Bachelor Party. Everyone seems so excited in this bash. I am sure all of them had great time over there. At the domestic Seattle venues my cousin will also be hosting her bachelor bash. We are eagerly waiting for this bash.
