W53: Another Anniversary... This Time with Leather

Photo Courtesy of Colin McAuliffe Photography
My husband, David, and I celebrated
THREE years of marriage
this week!

This was a pretty eventful year for us:

I started this blog in June.

I graduated with an MBA in August.

We visited the East Coast in September.

David started a whole new career in January.

We visited the West Coast in May.

I trained for and competed in four races!

We continued renovations on our house
with a new garage door and new windows and doors.

How do you find the perfect gift
for someone you've been with for 8+ years?
For someone who's been by your side through the worst times
and celebrated with you through the best?

Oh...and it has to be LEATHER...

Okay, it doesn't have to be...
but we have really tried to stick with the traditional gifts so far.

It was tough...
but I have to say
I am pretty proud
of what I came up with!

Since we both love food and travel,
I combined them into one awesome gift!
David with his "leather" anniversary gifts
I got David:
a travel bag (because he needed one),
an Illini luggage tag (in honor of our first date--an Illini hockey game),
and a knife bag (for his new career in the restaurant industry).

For dinner I kept the theme going!

Irish Soda Bread

Balsamic Caprese Salad

Orange Ginger Stir-Fry over Udon Noodles
There was also German Chocolate Cake for dessert,
but we were exhausted by the time we ate this meal at 10p
(since David had to work on our anniversary).
We have yet to partake of the cake, but I'm sure it will be delicious!

Check out my beautiful gift from David!

Another great anniversary!

I can't wait to see what's next for us!

Coming Up... Week 54: Much Ado About Muffins

  1. Very sweet and thoughtful gifts. Congrats on your anniversary in June :)

    1. Thank you, Alexandrea! I always have fun trying to come up with creative ideas that stay within the traditional gifts. For our first anniversary (paper), we went to see Monty Python & the Holy Grail at a local theater. It's one of David's favorite movies and the ticket stubs counted as our "paper". :-)
